Why would anyone want to commint suicide after reading it? I liked the play. It's very sensitive, and full of wonderful (Nimoy-stile))) humor, and tells about Van Gogh passionately and in good detail. I had known almost nothing about the artist before I watched the play.

It's a pity that the original play is nowhere to be seen. I'd like to compare the two variants, to see how much Leonard put into it and what were the changes. I'm particularly interested in one scene... )))

cuppa_tea Because I think this novel talks something like "it's ok to commit suicide because we have next life for sure." And there's a phase/quote something like "do good thing and live your life suffering." (Not excatly words--too lazy to open book.) I do believe we can do good thing and be happy.Maybe I interpreated wrong and paranoid but here I heard teens commit susided because they listen to sad song.:Z

So do I.Look over his :{ everything's ok--no,it's great!.His satire cracks me up.And a scene Nimoy as Theo draws bad painting I think it reflects Nimoy ,a man with multi talent,luck of talent in drawing..

Think positive.At least we got this show.I DO WANT to see "Fiddle on The Roof."

Well I don't remember if there's a reference to a future life somewhere in the play... I doubt it was meant that way. My impression was Vincent had had so much suffering in his life - and he had a sort of naivete that makes a person wise - that he wasn't very much afraid of dying. Maybe I haven't dug deep enough into the play )
As for bad influence on teenagers - I don't believe this very play is likely to move anybody to suicide. It's very much about loving life, the joy of life. It shows how wrong it is when an inordinary person - and a good one - is practically forced by other people to end their life like that.

OMG, is it his sketch?! He's recognizable (and the moustache!), but the thing is just awful ))))

Don't cry, and think positive )) There're surely some fine things that were not recorded and we missed them, but, on the other hand, it could be worse there are a lot of his movies for us to watch and enjoy. I like his "Indean" parts immensely, esp. the good ones ))
